Katarzyna Redesiuk studeerde architectuur en urban design. Die studie rondde ze niet af, omdat ze besloot dat ze liever in de entertainment-industrie aan de slag wilde. Ze nam contact op met CD Projekt Red en vroeg of ze bij hen koffie mocht komen zetten in ruil voor een kijkje achter de schermen van AAA game development.
Van stagiaire naar art director
Toen ze tijdens haar sollicitatiegesprek haar portfolio liet zien werd Redesiuk aangenomen als stagiaire. Nadat ze een paar jaar als concept artist aan verschillende titels had gewerkt, werd ze de art director voor GWENT: The Witcher Card Game.
Walkthrough
In haar talk op Control Conference laat Redesiuk zien welke uitdagingen de artists tegenkomen bij het maken van kaarten voor GWENT. Aan de hand van een stap voor stap walkthrough laat ze zien hoe het proces verloopt, van 2D art, naar 3D, animation, VFX, tot sound aan toe. Daarnaast deelt ze tips voor het maken van game art, en voor het runnen van een multidisciplinair team.

Katarzyna Redesiuk studied architecture and urban design, but decided to drop out and start her career in the entertainment industry. She contacted CD Projekt Red and asked them if she could come over to make coffee and see how AAA games are made.
From intern to art director
When she showed her portfolio during the interview, they hired her as an intern. For a few years Redesiuk worked as a concept artist on various titles, before she became the art director of GWENT: The Witcher Card Game.
Walkthrough
In her Control Conference talk Redesiuk shows which challenges artists face in the card art creation for GWENT. She gives the audience a step-by-step walkthrough of the proces, from 2D art, through 3D, animation, VFX, all the way to sounds, while showcasing good practices for creating art for games, and tips on handling multi-disciplinary teams.
