BoosterMedia is a young and fast growing company, bringing the phenomenal success of social and casual gaming to the open mobile internet. We manage mobile gaming portals in over 20 countries. Many of our clients and partners are leading online media and gaming brands.
Our Game Studio specializes in browser-based mobile social games development using HTML5 and mobile optimized Flash. Additionally, Our portals distribute mobile games to consumers via all types of handsets and platforms, including iPhone, Android and Symbian and Bada. We further increase our distribution via different app-stores and social networks.
We have our own in-house mobile games development studio, but we also work with third party game publishers. Our portals are currently monetized with mobile advertising and through Freemium models in our social mobile games.
As the online mobile gaming space is a global business, so is the international company culture of our team. BoosterMedia is centrally located in the recently opened Dutch Game Garden, the new national gaming center in the heart of Utrecht, The Netherlands.

Java Backend Developer
Job Summary and Responsibilities
We are looking for a creative, all-round software engineer (fulltime) to strengthen our development team. As Software Engineer, you will fulfill a key role in developing and extending our scalable online platforms like our mobile social games platform as well as our mobile portal platform.
Our candidate has a keen affinity for technology, is prepared to pioneer in an innovative environment and industry, is structured, works hard and thinks out of the box to find high performing yet flexible solutions. As part of the Technology team, you will work closely with the Head of Technology and members of the Game Development team.
We require
- A computer science (Bachelor or Master level) degree or similar experience
- A proven track record (2 to 4 years) in a server side (web) development role
- Excellent knowledge of Java, as well as basic knowledge in JPA and JUnit testing
- Database modeling and development experience (MySql Preferred)
- Experience with / interest in Scrum or similar agile development methodologies
- A team player with strong social and communication skills
- Writing and communication skills in English
We also prefer
- Familiar with HTML & CSS, JavaScript, jQuery
- Experience with Java Play! Framework
- An interest in online and/or mobile games
- Experience with integrating 3rd party API's (e.g Facebook, Twitter, billing systems)
- Knowledge of PHP, MySQL and Apache
- Experience with Mobile web development, both client and server side
