Job description
The Company
Our client is an independent game developemnt studio based in the North of England, set up in 2003 they currently employ 120+ experienced development staff. They are licensed to develop on all leading games platforms and currently have several AAA games in production.
Position Purpose
The development director manages the client, budget and team of multiple projects from initial conception to completion.
Essential Job Functions

Roles and responsibilities can often be expanded to accommodate changing business conditions and objectives as well as to tap into the skills and talents of its employees. Accordingly, employees may be asked to perform duties that are outside the specific functions that are listed.
1. Client Relationships – primary point of contact for all client relations. Responsible for clear communication and on-going development and maintenance of the relationship
2. Budget – help define and manage game budget, meet variable workforce program, and work within target profit margin.
3. Projects– pitch, land, schedule and monitor projects and their development cycles. Define milestones, negotiate contracts, assign team members (with Technical Director and Art Director), and manage risks.
4. Management – Plan and assist with strategic studio initiatives. Manage the balance of quality, budget and time on the project. Provide weekly reports to studio management. Managerial responsibility for Producers and Designers.
5. Team – Provide feedback to Technical Director and Art Director on team issues (including scheduling and staff performance) and provide long term and short term project direction to the team. As needed provide input related to hires, terminations, promotions, and discipline.
6. Design – Oversee project technical design & art.
