Position Purpose
The Lead Game Designer is responsible for overall efforts of the game design department including systems such as user interface, AI, game mechanic, inventory, multiplayer, etc. The Lead Game Designer will assist in performance management and conflict resolution within the department.
Essential Job Functions
CONTENT CREATION
- Oversee the creation and implementation of innovative game systems
- Supervise the creation and maintenance of detailed game system documentation
- Review, tweak and balance game systems
- Help define story and character related documents such as character bio, dialogue, location background and plot points etc.) as required
- Able to accurately assess time required for assigned tasks for game designers
- Troubleshoot design issues from a creative and technical standpoint
- Create new game pitches and present them as required
- Meet production schedules and deadlines
TEAMWORK
- Collaborate with the design team to develop and enhance gameplay
- Communicate with other departments to meet planned objectives
- Collaborate with the engineering team to develop and enhance the development of tools and processes used in the implementation of game systems
- Provide constructive feedback on game systems
- Participate in performance management and conflict resolution

Knowledge Requirements
- Competent in Office Programs
- Proven ability to breakdown system design goals into individual components.
- Proven ability to present ideas to wide variety of audiences, both technical and non-technical in a succinct manner.
- Excellent sense of variables, logic and problem solving
- Excellent understanding of past and current game trends
- Strong management/leadership skills
- Good written communication skills

- Scripting languages
· Simple 3D modeling skills for blocking out levels and creating track splines

Experience
· 5 plus years experience required, and 2 or more shipped titles
